I’m Song-Ze (Jimmy) Yu. Give me any piece I need to perform and I can play it after one listen. I learned piano on my own — and won first place at my very first competition. That win opened a decade as a child star: between 2009 and 2016, I appeared on over 100 Chinese-language TV variety shows and Lunar New Year galas, performed 24 solo recitals across Greater China, shared the stage with Jay Chou three times, and was a featured guest at Yan Jue’s Taipei Arena concert.

I’ve been writing songs since junior high — now more than 20 originals, with full mixing and mastering. In my freshman year at National Cheng Kung University, I was invited to compose and play keys for the senior class’s graduation song. After transferring to National Tsing Hua University, I joined several bands — sometimes on keys, sometimes lead vocal with cajón, sometimes electric guitar. Whichever instrument the band needed, I’d fill in. My sophomore-year single “失電陣線聯盟” (Power-Out United Front) reached 14.4K plays on Instagram. If it’s keyboard, I don’t rehearse — one listen and I can improvise the part live.
